This shop is inspired by all that we’ve lost in 2020 in Lebanon. My family had an institution called La Cigale, that slowly died with the crisis. But it’s time to bring back what we had, make it better and oh so yummy.

Everything this shop sells is a reflection of all Lulu’s favorite childhood foods (tweaked, of course, cause we live in 2022 👾 and it’s fun to make new things).

Ice cream flavors will be rich with texture, crunch and spice, reminiscing different types of middle eastern desserts.

Baked goods (including the maamouls) will include different types of pastries and will definitely blow your mind.

My name is Lulu.

I grew up in Lebanon and studied architecture, earning a post grad degree as an architect.

After interning and working in multiple firms, I decided to call it quits and cook.

So, I moved to New York to study, Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management.

Following graduation, I worked at Cosme NYC and its sister restaurant ATLA. I was drawn by how the restaurant transformed Mexican deliciousness into contemporary fine dining.

When the pandemic happened, I decided to work at Rethink Food, a non-profit that caters to food insecurities.

I, then, moved to Washington, DC to work at Albi (which is ‘my heart’ in arabic). It has a wood fire oven and a beautiful hearth. I wanted to learn more about my heritage and culture and Albi was a great way to do that.

And here we are now! trying to make Lul’s Café come together.

Cheers xx
